About
Shannon Aguiar is a photographer and journalist rooted in the vibrant culture of the West Coast. She currently calls Southern California home, where she quietly pursues her passion for visual storytelling.
Her journey began, capturing moments for her campus newspaper and online magazine, gradually gaining traction through enriching internships at esteemed publications like Los Angeles Magazine, Tokyo Journal, and OC Weekly. Transitioning into freelance work, Shannon found herself behind the lens of diverse subjects, from editorial covers to food, musicians to environmental crises, products, portraits and more. Following her time at Whittier College, she briefly took on a role as a marketing coordinator in San Francisco, leading creative projects, managing social media, and producing photoshoots before moving back to Los Angeles a year later.
Her collaborations have been varied, from established brands like Materna Medical and Facebook to contributing her lens to publications and festivals such as Pasadena Magazine, The Almanac, and Same Same But Different.Today, Shannon finds fulfillment as a committed photojournalist for Red Canary Magazine, where she photographs and writes about subjects exploring pressing environmental and social narratives with depth and sincerity. Alongside this, she lends her creative touch as a photography assistant at Mattel.
